Nokia N-Series

N91_1Nokia just announced its new Nseries. The n91 has USB 2, 4gb hard drive, Wlan, 2 mega pixel camera and a standard 3,5 head phone jack and audio in. Seems that Ipod mini may just have a new competitor. One device less in your pocket. Nokia says n91 wont hit the stores untill 4th quarter.

Looks like I might just have to change to a new phone before christmas. I hope this is better than the previous "n-thingie", the infamous N-gage...

"With the Nokia Xpress-on™ RFID Reader shell, mobile workforce can read RFID tags for easy, fast and real time mobile data capture and two-way interaction in the field."

Seems that my friend Chris got his work done... I would love to see what kind of applications would come out if this was really popular.

Google montage and Guess-the-google

Link: Grant Robinson : Guess-the-google launcher.

After creating Montage-a-google, several people wrote to me suggesting I make a game based on the same technology. Montage-a-google is a simple web app that uses Google's image search to generate a large gridded montage of images based on keywords (search terms) entered by the user

Why doesnt anyone do this for Flickr? Make this a two palyer game. Game would just pick a random pictures and players would have to tell it what is in the picture. That way if both of them would get it right, the Flickr would just add the metadata to the picture...

Star trek comes alive at Seattle Library

605_image1022604_image1021Seattle's new central library and its librarians have cool vocera communication system. Push a button on your chest, say a name and you are talking wirelessly via wifi to your colleague at the other side of ship.. i mean library. The system helps librarians to talk to each other or to a client when they are looking for information. The librarian I talked to said, that the system uses voice recoqnition and voip technology. The technology has been previously used in sick bays.. I mean hospitals. Apparently you can add wifi positioning to the system. Engineering? I need more power. Is there anybody there?

heise online - Court decision in music industry vs. heise online

Link: heise online - Court decision in music industry vs. heise online.

In the legal dispute (reference: 21 O 3220/05) between eight companies from the music industry and German publisher Heise Zeitschriften Verlag, the first-instance district court of Munich I has just presented its written ruling. The matter in dispute was a report by heise online on a new version of software to make copies of DVDs. In the original version, this report not only took a critical view of software vendor Slysoft's claims, but also provided a link to the company's web site.

I have been sitting in at Pamela Samuelson's p2p class past two months. The class has mostly revolved around the question posed by "MGM vs. Grogster" ; should the developer of technology be responsible for infringements done by their users. Japan decided yes and now Germany gives this nobrainer decision...

Qui went to the police to report the "theft" but was told the weapon was not real property protected by law.

"Zhu promised to hand over the cash but an angry Qui lost patience and attacked Zhu at his home, stabbing him in the left chest with great force and killing him," the court was told.

Huh. no property rights, no taxes... Final frontier.
