I returned from the Trans Atlantic Consumer Dialogue group's event which was held at Geneva. They had managed to get very impressive group of people as speakers. Lessig, Stallman, Nobel price winner Sir John Sulston, Benkler, Boyle, Hugenholtz and Terry Fischer just to mention some of them. This time i think more light was generated than heat. Organizers had managed to get WIPO representatives to panels. They managed to speak but alas empty words without meaning.
Hugh Hansen who is a law professor at Fordham Law school was stirring up the peace with "maximalist" speech he made. Perfect troll who managed to say that everything you have heard is a lie (and stupid). Still he was tolerated... I cant say that I agree what he was saying, but I liked that he had guts to be SOO wrong and say it alound in front of a crowd that was getting ready to lynch him. Too bad that Lessig and Doctorow had to leave the panel before Hansens speech.
Stallman was his usuall self. He stormed in to a room and waved his hands every time that some one managed to say Linux (should be GNU Linux). "He is giving creadit to someone else for my work". Set this aside, he was making great comments and presented his cases in extremely understandable fashion.
